Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) for Diesel Engines on Ships

Ship exhaust

Emission Monitoring

The regulatory requirements for emission monitoring are becoming more stringent worldwide.  SICK analyzers and system solutions monitor and check emission limit values, contaminant emissions and the release of other substances into the environment.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has established regulations for the reduction of ship emission.  SICK analyzers successfully monitor flue gas scrubbers which remove, the example, SO2 from marine diesel engine exhaust gases.  SICK analyser systems also measure other components such as CO, CO2, H2O, NH3, O2 and CH4 in exhaust gas from turbines and boilers before and after catalysts or gas scrubbers.

SICK Marsic series

MARSIC200 and MARSIC300 are especially developed to measure emissions aboard of ships  according to all relevant maritime regulations  like MARPOL Annex VI, MEPC.259(68)1, MVR, etc.

  • Designed, that maintenance and service is simple, even for a board engineer
  • Developed with less use of movable parts to extent maintenance intervals and keep service & TCO down
  • Cost optimized systems due to multiple sampling points with only one analyzer
  • Complete Type Approved by DNV GL and ABS (CCS applied) according to MARPOL Annex VI, related guidelines and international classification standards IACS E101
  • No need of calibration gas due to certified internal calibration filters (MARSIC300)
  • Service concept included spare part hubs all over the world and 24/7 maritime Helpline
